Why did I decide to study Social Work?

Welcome back to my blog, today I want to talk about my reasons for choosing the career I study. I study Social Work at the University of Chile, but to be honest in my childhood I never thought I would study this career, because I didn't even know it. When I was a child I wanted to be a teacher, I always liked teaching my twin sisters, I printed guides and played at teaching them. As time went by, I kept hearing about new careers like cook or better said, pastry chef, which is still my hobby cooking sweet things like cakes or pies but I can't imagine myself working in that all my life. When I got to high school the picture changed as I had to decide on a career to study. It was at that moment when I discovered Social Work through the mother of a classmate who was a social worker, when she told me about her work with society, especially with the most vulnerable sector, I loved it because I knew I would like to dedicate my life to that. I also considered studying psychology but in the end I was not convinced because it seemed to me a job quite far away. My experience in this first year of university has not been the one that is usually shown in the movies, but the truth is that I am not complaining, I live in the seventh region so I have been able to spend more time with my family and the truth is that despite being in pandemic I am very grateful to have these spaces with them. I hope that in the future I can dedicate myself to helping people, it doesn't matter if maybe my contribution is small but if it is valuable in the lives of the people I help, it would make me feel very fulfilled as a person. Thank you for coming this far...
